I’m not sure it’s really necessary to fabricate rumors about the long-now clock’s pedigree as there are already so many out there.

I’ve heard from a number of extremely sober minded people associated with the project that significant parts of Danny Hillis’s design were sourced from previously unreleased portions of Leonardo Da Vinci’s Codex Leicester (owned by ex Danny Hillis employer Bill Gates), with mysterious thousand year old designs going into the clock is it really necessary to wire up some bones into it as well?
