After posting the image of the Large Helical Device (LHD) several folks sent me links to images of the LHC or Large Hadron Collider (And it turns out it spells something totally different if you transpose the D and R in Hadron, making the title of this post NSFW). The best photos of the collider I have seen can be found here. We have also recently logged a Long Bet, where the better asserts that this machine will destroy the earth (especially interesting in that they named the NRA as the charity to get the winnings, which I am not sure is a joke or not).
