[...] The Long Now Blog » Blog Archive » “We would all be smarter if the world remains m... - video - “everyone can do something to support a world in which a diversity of thought and a diversity of ways of speaking is encouraged and is fostered and is sustained. There’s no reason for people to be forced to abandon their languages. It’s one of the false choices of globalization to tell people that they must give up a small or minority or a heritage language in order to speak a global language like English. It doesn’t have to happen. We would all be better and smarter if the world remains multilingual.” SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Del.icio.us.ness", url: "http://www.melstarrs.com/elemental/2008/11/20/deliciousness-45/" }); News [...]

Dr. Harrison's talk at Pop!Tech was a partnership with the DotSub site. They found about 30 people to do translations of the talk, and were able to post the translated video by the end of the three day conference. Still -- impressively fast. Now the video demos one of the most impressive features of DotSub (well, maybe from a geeky linguistic perspective) -- you can switch between any of the language subtitles on the fly.

And David, you still have a job :)
