Analogy

May 27th, 02008 by Alexander Rose

Stewart Brand sent me this link to one of the nicest web clocks I have yet seen. Make sure you do click through as the image above does not do the animated form justice. It is called Analogy by Jessson Yip.

The “Analogy” clock is a very attractive piece of work. Your readers might also be interested in a clock I’ve recently produced, which provides spatial perspective on one’s position within the current year, month, week, day, hour and minute. Future versions will attempt to improve that sense of temporal context by removing the discontinuities introduced by the boundaries between years, months, etc., but the current version, I believe, is already interesting. Note that the clock is based on the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) standard, and therefore scales cleanly to arbitrary size. I recommend opening it in a separate window, and making that window as large as possible.
